PRESENTATION

THE LAMP CONCEPT

The concept of my project is to make an interactive lamp where usere can adjust the density of the light souce along with its angle.

LAMP DESIGN

For my final project I decided to use Rhinoceors 3D for designing my lamp, the structure of the lamp is mainly made out of two different thickness of Baltic birch plywood 0.25'' and 0.125'' and I used the laser cutting machine for cutting all the wooden boards in addition to the other materials like cardboard and the acrylic sheets and for joining the wooden structure pieces together I used press fit joint technique.
In the bottom of the page there is a link for downloading all the original CAD files in addition to the exports, Most of the lamp elements are drawn 2D dimensions except the servo motor holder and the spacers I used laser cutting machine and 3d printer.
This file ( LAMP FRAME_0.25'' Birch wood board elements _For laser cutting.dxf ) contains the 3 wooden frames that are 0.25’’ thick along with the back wooden panel of the lamp which holds the whole the led lights, servo and curtain.
And this file ( LAMP FRAME_0.125'' Birch wood board elements _For laser cutting.dxf ) contains all the wooden parts that are 0.125” thick like the front design of the lamp along with the bush button supporter structure, Servo arm for rotating the black curtain and 24 wood joinery connections.
I had also used the laser cutter for cutting the origami moving curtain that is made out of black cardboard along with the sheets that cover the frame of the lamp the CAD drawings for both elements are included in this file ( black cardboard _Moving curtain For Laser cutting.dxf )
(Lamp controller Orange Acrylic.dxf) contains the design file for making the lamp controller that holds the buttons and the potentiometer I used for that a 0.187 “ thick orange acrylic sheet as for led lights holder I used a white acrylic sheet that is 0.125” thick the design file for this part is called (LED's light holder White Acrylic 3mm.dxf) and to keep the origami moving curtain well aligned vertically I decided to use 2 layers of clear Acrylic this file contains the design file for the bottom part() and this file () contains the upper part design and I used a none glare non-glare Styrene Sheet for making a circular shaped element that was installed on the front lamp controller orange acrylic sheet the design file for this element is called
As for attaching the 270 degree servo to the back wood panel of the lamp I decided to print a servo holder in 3D where you can find it in this file ( Servo holder For 3D Printing.stl ) I had also printed 3 spacers in 3D in ordered to place them under the acrylic sheet that holds the led lights this file () contains the design file for the light holder.

ELECTRONICS DESIGN

For designing my PCB I used Autodesk eagle and I used Attiny44 microcontroller for driving a 20KG high torque digital Servo that has 270° rotational angle along with 12 led lights controlled by one potentiometer and two push buttons.

PROGRAMING

For programing my board I used Arduino IDE environment the code is saved in the download folder under this name (Georges_Hanna__2018_Fab_Academy__Final_project_code.ino)
